I Laughed

I Laughed uncomfortably

when I did what I did
at the knock on the door,
at the shadows in the window
when the moon poked its face through the pines.

Thus was it ever so,
Before this thing that stalked the denim night,
Before your image raced across the bare wall
when I thought I had buried
you deeper than dark, and all I wanted to remember
was the last time we talked.

I read this several times and each time fear increased. Shivers and chills – a very fine read!  Very fine!

A great little story, like a nightmare, it makes me want to scream! Well written.
