Walk Softly Live Gently

If you wander don’t worry you’re not lost

Time….

“Time is a created thing. To say ‘I don’t have time,’ is like saying, ‘I don’t want to.’”
– Lao-Tzu
(Ouch! That’s a tough one)

Just a reminder….

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”
President Dwight D. Eisenhower
April 16, 1953

In the car

parked near some woods, engine idling rhythmically and I’m wondering….Is there some connection to my body and the machine rumbling softly under me?
I think to myself, ‘we are made of the same stuff’. I sense its wonder at my touch, my attempt to control it so lovingly. I feel the cool of its seemingly dead [...]

Landlocked In Fur

Found this on Graceful Presence.

Landlocked in Fur
I was meditating with my cat the other day
and all of a sudden she shouted,
“What happened?”
I knew exactly what she meant, but encouraged
her to say more - feeling that if she got it all out on the table
she would sleep better that night.
So I responded, “Tell me more, dear,”
and [...]

Follow your own path

“Life is complex. Each one of us must make his own path through life. There are no self-help manuals, no formulas, no easy answers. The right road for one is the wrong road for another … The journey of life is not paved in blacktop; it is not brightly lit, and it has no road [...]

Calf Path

(A little long but worth it)
One day through the primeval wood
A calf walked home as good calves should;
But made a trail all bent askew,
A crooked trail as all calves do.
Since then three hundred years have fled,
And I infer the calf is dead.
But still he left behind his trail,
And thereby hangs my moral tale.
The trail was [...]

Unusual words….

These strange words are used all over this site
floccinaucinihilipilification| The action or habit of judging something to be worthless. Alternatively, the categorising of something that is useless or trivial. [more]
aeolist | A pompous windy bore who pretends to have inspiration.lalochezia | Emotional relief gained by using indecent or vulgar language.
cacoethes | An irresistible compulsion; [...]

A mystic….

….is not one who sees God as an object, but one who is immersed in God as an atmosphere, an all encompassing condition.
Ken Wilber

Mixed Motives….

Had a great discussion with a client this morning about our mixed motives in almost all that we do, even, or especially those things that we do for others “good”. True humility is the rarest of characteristics. Even then there seems to be a very subtle, almost indiscernable “ego” that underlies the best of motives. [...]

Quote

Since I don’t have anything profound to say this time I’ll just have to quote somebody else:
Any attempt to get rid of painful feelings or memories is a judgment of them, and judgment locks them more firmly into place. The only way you can truly demonstrate unconditional love and acceptance of painful feelings is [...]

Human Condition?

As I read different peoples thoughts, ramblings,
rantings and rages in their various weblogs I’m struck
by the universality and commonality of the human
condition. I am amazed at the candor with which many
express themselves knowing that others,
perhaps many, people will read what they had
to say.
I am also struck by my own lack of candor, at least on [...]

Waiting….

for the printer to finish it’s long print job; about 20 more pages. It is excruciatingly slow because it refuses to acknowledge my settings, i.e. ‘fastdraft’ mode. I printed the first few in draft mode pretty quickly, then with the next batch it switched to the higher res setting. I went back and checked. Nothing [...]

Just because

my brain feels that way sometimes. Like pandora, spilling over. Crammed with too much stuff. It is good to have the outlet, the storage space if you will to put all those thoughts, feelings and other unidentified trivia that accumulates somewhere between the ears.
So if you thought you wandered into the wrong blog, you didn’t. [...]

Neil’s Tower….

For One Deep Breath’s weekly prompt: Architecture
This was the most important building project I have had the privilege of participating in.

Building Neil’s tower
Serious concentration
Relationships formed

We thought we were playing
